For others, words can flow swiftly like a fountain that never runs out of water. But for others, writing can be a chore, that is both tasking and time consuming. Fortunately, people do not forget how to write well rather they simply forget how to do the right process of writing.

The hardest part of writing is learning how to start. There are many details that need to be taken for consideration like what to write, how to write, and when to start. The beginning of any writing is not the most fun part but it should be something that needs to be highly considered.

When you are having problem learning how to start writing, you may want to first decide what to write. Getting down to the details of your piece will allow you to create a draft of the things and goals that you want to end with. So you can write down these details in a notebook, or stick them on a note. Just get something that will help you picture what your work should be.

Write down the details and the requisites of the work. How long should you write? What should you be writing about? Do you need to follow certain formats? What should you take into consideration when writing? To whom should you write for? You need to get all these details straighten out.

Remember not to rush through the writing phase. You need to first consider whether you are in the perfect environment that will help you to think clearly. Get rid of any destruction. Find a post where you can concentrate, grab a pen and a paper where you can write down your ideas.

Getting an outline of the basics is important. Stay away from those monotonous essays that most high schoolers would do simply because they failed to create an outline at the start of their writing. Outlining will also help your creative mind to function better as it forces you with ideas that you can use for your story. Consider this note from Lifehack:

Just look at Harry Potter, which concluded last month: the final book had strong ties with the six before it, even though it was written a full decade after the original book. Without some sense of direction, J. K. Rowling would never have been able to create such a powerful conclusion.

If you still find it hard to start scribbling down some notes then you may want to get a little motivation. It is agonizing to be sitting in front of a blank page and not knowing what to write. So give yourself a break, drink that wine if you need to or go to a spa if you want to feel relaxed. Whatever it is that you think will motivate you to start writing, indulge. Just do not use this as an excuse to prolong the “vacation”, remember that sooner or later, you need to start writing.

If you need to reach out to some people, do so. Brainstorming is a very good way to be motivated to write. Write down your ideas, do not worry if you cannot rightly create a connection to what you are intending to write. Just so as ideas keep on coming, you will be thrilled later on to start writing.

When you think you have done all the steps above, now is the time to stop whatever you are doing and start writing.  Now is the time to forget everything and start writing. Just write down the first sentence; just write down the first word that you could think of because sooner or later, the words will start flowing.

You see, all these will still boil down into one word: discipline. You need to discipline yourself in a way that you will write in times when you need to. Procrastination will not lead you anywhere. You need to really be committed in writing.
